Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Job Description/Summary:

Kawartha Diagnostic Imaging (KDI) is looking for a skilled and certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our dynamic team!

The successful applicant will be able to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team and will have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, their families, co workers and physicians.

This is a full time position, Monday to Friday;  no evenings or weekends.

Role Summary:

  • Assist with radiopharmaceutical shipments including dose preparation and QC
  • Utilize safe practices in the handling of radioactive and biological materials in compliance with posted notices and CNSC license conditions
  • Use radiation monitoring equipment and perform contamination monitoring and decontamination as required
  • Set up of nuclear medicine equipment;  follow manufacturer’s operation and maintenance guidelines and participate in minor troubleshooting
  • Prepare, assay and administration of radiopharmaceuticals to patients
  • Ensure proper patient identification and history before starting procedures
  • Perform angiocath insertion and intravenous injections
  • Preparing patients to be scanned on the Gamma Cameras;  instructing or assisting patients during procedures
  • Perform thallium viability and rest MUGA testing
  • Collaborate with Stress Team to perform safe nuclear stress testing (both Exercise and Pharmacological:  Persantine and Dobutamine)
  • Perform ECG gating
  • Measure Blood Pressures
  • Maintain appropriate records
  • Assist with test scheduling
  • Assist with general office tasks
  • Communicate with patients, physicians and other staff
  • Report to Department Lead, Nuclear Radiation Safety Officer, Cardiovascular Clinical Coordinator and Executive Cardiologists.

Qualifications:

  • Experience performing Bone Mineral Density testing an asset
  • Compliance with all government regulations
  • Conducts examinations in accordance with KCC and KDI protocols, policies and procedures
  • Current valid registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
  • Current, valid membership with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Cardiovascular Nurse

Job Description/Summary

The Kawartha Cardiology Clinic (KCC) in Peterborough is looking for an exceptional champion of cardiac care to join our dynamic team!  We are looking for a Cardiovascular Nurse with 3-5 years recent cardiac (acute care, cardiac cath lab, telemetry) experience who has an in-depth understanding of cardiovascular health and issues that can arise from vascular disease.

Role Summary

  • Work in collaboration with our Cardiologists to provide ongoing patient management and illness prevention
  • Perform physical ‘head to toe’ assessments
  • Provide health teaching and support to patients
  • Analyze and interpret ECGs
  • Analyze and interpret laboratory values
  • Assess, and treat patient symptoms (ex: chest pain, BP changes)

Qualifications

  • Current valid registration with the College of Nurses (CNO)
  • Current valid membership with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO)
  • Basic Life Support (CPR)
  • Certification in Coronary Care 1 an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of ECG interpretation and arrhythmia interpretation
  • Excellent knowledge of cardiac medications and commonly associated comorbidities
  • Advanced knowledge of cardiovascular disease and coronary care
  • 3-5 years recent cardiac experience
  • Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Registered Nurse (RN) Integrated Vascular Management Clinic (IVMC)

Job Description

Kawartha Cardiology Clinic (KCC) is looking for an experienced RN to join our Integrated Vascular Management Clinic team. We are looking for an exceptional individual who shares our passion to deliver excellent patient-focused care. This is a full-time Monday to Friday position working in collaboration with our cardiologists to provide ongoing patient management, physical assessment and health teaching. The ideal candidate will be a Registered Nurse with an in depth understanding of cardiovascular health and the issues that arise from vascular disease. The candidate must have demonstrated an ability to teach and support patients and to work as a cooperative team member. The candidate must have a current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing and 5 to 10 years clinical nursing experience with an interest in cardiac care.

Registered Nurse for Heart Function and Atrial Fibrillation Clinics

Job Description

The Kawartha Cardiology Clinic (KCC) in Peterborough is looking for an exceptional Registered Nurse to join our specialized outpatient clinics for the care of patients with Heart Failure and Atrial Fibrillation.
We are looking for a Registered Nurse with 3 years recent cardiac (acute care, cardiac cath lab, telemetry) experience who has an in-depth understanding of cardiovascular health and issues that can arise from vascular disease.

Role Summary

  • Assess and triage referrals to HF and AFib clinics
  • Work in collaboration with our Cardiologists to provide ongoing patient management, assessment and illness prevention
  • Analyze and interpret laboratory values
  • Assistance with managing medications and therapies for heart failure and atrial fibrillation treatments
  • Provide ongoing patient and family health teaching regarding diet, lifestyle, self-monitoring and self-assessment
  • Optimization of quality of life, symptom management and prevention of hospital admissions

Qualifications

  • Current valid registration with the College of Nurses (CNO)
  • Current valid membership with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO)
  • Basic Life Support (CPR)
  • Minimum 3 years recent cardiac experience

Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Device Clinic

Job Description

The Peterborough Regional Device Clinic is looking for an experienced RN to join our dynamic team! We are looking for an innovative, team-focused and customer service-oriented individual who is committed to providing high quality, exceptional and compassionate care in a fulfilling work environment to meet the cardiac device care needs of our community. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday. No evenings or weekends.

Role Summary

  • Provide thorough, competent interrogation and reprogramming of cardiac devices implanted in patients including Pacemakers, Implantable Loop Recorders and Implantable Cardiac Defibrillators
  • Device interrogations will be completed in both inpatient and outpatient settings as well as remotely monitored patients
  • Completion of reports and documentation in the Electronic Health Record as well as reporting acute/urgent issues to Cardiologist and/or other Care Provider
  • Collaborate directly with physicians, industry and other device team members

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years recent cardiac experience with excellent knowledge of cardiac medications and commonly associated comorbidities
  • 2-5 years recent experience in ICD and Pacemaker Care an asset
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses (CNO) in good standing
  • Current registration with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO)
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) and/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
